1300737833R&F Steel Buildings Gatton worked closely with Lockyer Valley Regional Council on the delivery of custom steel structures for the Gatton Skate Park, helping provide practical covered areas as part of the facility’s ongoing development.
Located in the heart of Gatton in the Lockyer Valley, the skate park is an important community recreation facility for local families, young people and visitors to the region. For the R&F Gatton team, projects like this are a chance to put local knowledge and practical steel building experience to work on infrastructure that will be used by the community for years to come.
The project included two separate carport structures, each designed for its intended use and site requirements.
Client: Lockyer Valley Regional Council
Builder: R&F Steel Buildings Gatton
Structures included:
Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, the Gatton Skate Park project involved two differently configured steel carports to suit the requirements of the site. The larger 6m x 12m x 3m high skillion carport features a single-slope roof design supported by RHS steel posts, providing a generous covered area within the skate park precinct. A separate 4m x 4m x 3m high gable carport was also constructed, using a traditional gable roof profile to provide another practical covered structure within the facility. While relatively straightforward in appearance, community infrastructure projects require careful consideration of the site, intended use and surrounding environment. Working directly with Lockyer Valley Regional Council allowed the R&F Gatton team to coordinate the structures around the requirements of the project and deliver a practical steel solution for the facility.
For R&F Steel Buildings Gatton, working on projects such as Gatton Skate Park is a natural extension of the team’s connection to the local area. R&F was founded in Gatton, and the local Gatton team continues to work across the Lockyer Valley on residential, rural, commercial and community projects. From custom sheds and farm buildings through to carports and larger structural steel structures, the team brings local site knowledge together with R&F’s established engineering and building systems. That local connection matters when you’re working on public and community infrastructure. The people designing and building the structure are working in the same communities where the finished project will be used.
The Gatton Skate Park project is one example of the type of custom steel work R&F Steel Buildings Gatton delivers across the Lockyer Valley. The team works with local property owners, businesses, organisations and councils to design and construct steel structures around the requirements of each site and project. Whether it’s a community facility in Gatton, a commercial building in Plainland, a farm shed near Grantham or a carport in the wider Lockyer Valley, the starting point is the same: understand what the structure needs to do, then design and build it accordingly.
As a local Gatton shed builder, R&F Steel Buildings delivers custom sheds, carports and steel structures throughout Gatton and the wider Lockyer Valley.

Like many of our carport structures, both buildings feature strong SHS posts, providing a practical and robust support solution for this type of application. Their square hollow section profile also gives the posts clean, rounded corners, creating a neat finish suited to a public-use environment.
Whether you’re planning a farm shed, workshop, garage, machinery storage or a larger commercial building, the Gatton team can help you work through the options and find the right solution for your property.
