An R&F building takes coordination. Unlike a standard bracketed shed kit, our welded and bolted portal frame system brings together skilled steel fabricators, Australian manufacturers and multiple local suppliers. Materials need to be fabricated, transported and coordinated so the right components come together for every R&F Steel Buildings project.
It’s a more involved process, requiring established relationships, careful planning and systems that work across the supply chain. It’s an approach we’ve developed over years, creating the foundations for a network that now spans 27 independently owned and operated R&F locations across Queensland and the Northern Territory.

We’ve invested heavily in a specialised design program developed around R&F’s welded and bolted portal frame system. It brings together structural engineering, practical design features and building specifications in one place, giving our local teams the tools to develop designs around each customer’s requirements.
More than just a way to see what your shed might look like, the system helps bring the practical details together during the design process.
Our local teams use it to sit down with you, work through the options and create a 3D visualisation of your proposed building before construction begins. That means you can explore the layout, dimensions, openings and features while considering your property, intended use and budget.
The technology supports the process, but the conversation comes first. It’s about understanding what you need and working through the design together.

2005 Where it Started
Ryan and Nigel began like many of our customers – hands-on, hard-working, and committed to doing things properly. Starting with weekend shed kits as young adults, they learned the craft from the ground up. From early days, there has been one clear goal: delivering practical, engineered steel sheds that make life easier for everyday Australians. No unnecessary complexity. No cutting corners.
2010 R & F Name Established and Local Relationships Built
The R & F Steel Building name was officially established in 2010 along with strong partnerships with trusted Australian suppliers, including Lysaght, ensuring every R & F shed is built using premium materials designed to handle Queensland’s demanding conditions.

2012 Expanding Across Queensland
As demand increased and our reputation for straight-up service grew, R & F expanded beyond Gatton – welcoming local owner-builders in Warwick, who shared the same practical values.
2012 Innovation in Design & Engineering
We invested in advanced design systems and custom engineering processes that simplified quoting, certification and council approvals.

2016 Growing Network
With a proven system in place, the R & F network continued to grow, welcoming like-minded locals in Toowoomba and Atherton. This growth wasn’t about scale for the sake of it – it was about helping more Queenslanders access engineered steel buildings, backed by real support.
2018 The Launch of Shedsuite
Innovation continued with the launch of Shedsuite – our purpose-built digital platform designed to give distributors a smarter, faster and more accurate way to design and deliver custom sheds.
It strengthened our network and reinforced what we stand for: practical tools that genuinely support the people on the ground.
2020 Queensland-Wide Recognition
By this point, R & F had become a trusted name across Queensland – relied upon by farmers, homeowners and businesses who value quality builds and clear communication.
