Shaped by More Than 30 Years of Farming Experience

After more than 30 years in farming, the team at JMAC Farming knew what they needed from their new shed: practical access for machinery, room for heavy vehicles and equipment, and enclosed space to protect valuable assets from the weather. The brief was to bring these requirements together in one building, with open-front machinery bays alongside a separate enclosed area for truck storage and workshop use.

Built Around Clear-Span Access and Open Machinery Bays

R&F Steel Buildings Warwick worked closely with the client to develop a custom shed layout around the property’s storage and access requirements. The design features a large central gable structure with a 18 m clear span, providing a lockable internal area for truck storage and workshop use.

A 6 m awning extension extends from the main gable structure to create an open machinery storage area with four bays across the front: one 7.6 m bay and three 7.8 m bays, each providing access to the 24 m-deep storage area. By combining enclosed space with open-front bays, the layout accommodates different types of machinery and equipment while keeping everyday access practical.

Access without compromise

Enclosed Truck Storage and Top-Hung Sliding Doors

Easy access for heavy vehicles was an important part of the brief. R&F’s top-hung sliding door system provides a wide opening into the enclosed truck storage and workshop area. The three custom SHS steel sliding doors are assembled on site as part of the build process to achieve a precise fit.

They can be operated by one person and slide clear of the opening, stacking outside the building footprint to keep the full 17 m opening available when moving trucks and equipment in and out. R&F top-hung sliding doors can be designed with clear spans of up to 24 metres, with wider openings available on request.

The details matter

Custom Details That Make a Difference

A well-designed custom farm shed comes down to more than its size. For this project, custom flashings were installed at selected wall and roof junctions to help prevent birds from nesting, while in the open machinery bays the team has allowed for future concrete works. These practical details help make the shed work for the property’s current needs, with flexibility for future requirements.
